João Epifânio, of Altice Portugal: “It is in our interest for the Media Capital deal to be settled as quickly as possible”

Last summer, Altice Portugal offered to pay 440 million euros for Media Capital, the owner of TVI. It says it wants to pursue a strategy built on three pillars: telecommunications, content and advertising. But the deal is far from uncontroversial. Almost a year later, the Competition Authority is still deciding whether to approve or block the purchase, while competitors attack the deal, citing risks to the market.

In an interview with ECO, in two parts, João Epifânio, an executive board member at Altice Portugal, talks about the Media Capital deal, takes stock of Anacom’s actions in recent months, comments on the irregular tariffs dossier and also on the Fibroglobal controversy.
