How artificial intelligence leapt to the forefront of technology with ChatGPT

This article about ChatGPT was not written by an algorithm. But it could have been. All it would take is to ask the machine to write a news story about the renewed euphoria around artificial intelligence. You could even go further and set a character limit or even a specific writing style. The result would be impressive. But not necessarily journalistic, or true.

By now, ChatGPT hardly needs an introduction. It is a platform developed by a company called OpenAI and made available to the public at the end of November 2022. Two months later, it passed 100 million users. The key is simplicity. In functional terms, ChatGPT is no more than a Messenger window, a space where we can enter a request, ask a question or make a statement. Then the program gives an answer.
